How to Get a Month of iCloud Storage For Free

Credits: lifehacker.com
Even though Apple is never going to offer more than 5GB of free storage, it seems, the company is throwing the slightest bone to users frustrated by its 2012-era storage limits: a free month.
Don’t get too excited, though; Apple’s offer comes with a few catches. First, you will need to have used up all of your storage on your free iCloud plan. When you next try to back up your iPhone or iPad, Apple will prompt you to upgrade your cloud storage plan to a paid subscription. As 9to5 Macnotes, you’ll get the first month free on whatever new plan you pick, but you’ll have to pay the regular subscription price after that.
An important caveat: The free trial promotion is only good for people who are not currently iCloud subscribers. Sorry to all those looking to upgrade their 50GB (or more) iCloud plans.
As of when we wrote this article, a 50GB iCloud storage plan runs $1/month, a 200GB plan $3/month, and a 2TB plan $10 per month.
Admittedly, saving $1 on iCloud (or whatever) for a month isn’t the biggest win in the world. We’d rather Apple throw a bone to free users and, say, double their storage, or allow users to store unlimited photos without counting them against that 5GB limit. But this is a frequently repeated complaint against Apple; and something free is definitely better than nothing.
